ken image bioKen Nelson, Ph.D., is a leader in mind-body learning and group creativity workshops. He has dedicated the past 30 years of his life to holistic education, human potential and experiential teaching.

Ken leads seminars and retreats worldwide in wellness, self-discovery and personal growth. Since 1975, he has designed and led hundreds of workshops, often challenging people's long-held belief systems and promoting personal transformation in the lives of thousands of participants.

For two decades, Ken has coached educators in ways to empower people. Since 1998 he has directed training-the-trainer courses for leaders in education, wellness, human resources, yoga, the healing arts and the helping professions. Presenters learn to offer dynamic, interactive and innovative trainings.

Ken is completing a book documenting his work of creating powerful workshops using mind-body learning and group creativity. While researching the book, Ken was supported as a Scholar-in-Residence by Kripalu Center for Yoga and Health.

Ken developed his global perspective and cultural sensitivity by teaching internationally in adult and higher education beginning in 1975 and has since led workshops on four continents. His teaching awards include fellowships from the U.S. Dept. of Education, Shell and Tinker Foundations, and two Fulbright lectureships in applied linguistics in Milan and Florence, Italy.

At Tulane University, Ken was a teacher educator in Intercultural Education and English as a Second Language. He has also taught and studied in Mexico, Puerto Rico, Brazil, Italy, Japan and Thailand. Ken founded and directed a small private international school in Maryland dedicated to bridging cultures through friendship, language training, study abroad and intercultural exchange. As an educational consultant, he has helped business, government and non-profit leaders to develop interpersonal skills and communicate more effectively.

Ken began practicing yoga and the healing arts three decades ago and has studied intensively in Eastern healing traditions. The father of two sons, Ken resides in Lenox, MA, where he is a senior Kripalu program director and member of the Kripalu yoga faculty and Kripalu School of Massage. Ken mentors yoga and meditation teachers and workshop facilitators.
